An Open Letter From Pastor G.S. Nair

Pastor G.S. Nair is a former Hindu saved through the ministry of Baptist Mid-Missions in 1972.

“Pastor, if God called you to plant a church in India - would you go?”

“Take this test to find out if you're cut out for a church planting ministry in India”

  • Do you speak any major Indian language? Many folks do speak English but there are 29 major languages and 1,800 dialects.  How shall they hear without a preacher that they can understand?
  • Can you clone yourself? The field is huge and diverse.  There are extremely poor rural villages as well as cities with over 10 million people.
  • Are you willing to spend years of your life training these men? You'll need to teach them basic Bible doctrine, Theology, Hermeneutics, Eschatology, Pneumatology, Ecclesiology and Soteriology.  By the way, you’ll need to teach them a trade as well.  How else can they feed their families when they go back to their village or city-with no guarantees but to depend on the Lord to take care of their needs?
  • Can you lead by example and teach your men to do door-to-door visitation-on a massive scale? Sending them out in teams to give out up to 50,000 tracts a day There are over 1.2 billion people in India and they are outside all the time (except during the rainy season) so you’ll need to teach them to hold street meetings to reach the throngs.
  • Have you counted the extra cost? Once you get to know these young men you’ll find it very difficult to just let them go without laying yourself out to help meet their needs on the field. You must be willing to sacrifice some of your support if necessary to help these men do the work of the ministry.
  • Do you have a plan to train working men who can't quit their full-time jobs and spend years with you? You will need to establish extension schools that will allow men to learn the ministry in a work-study program.
  • Have you prepared a plan to train women to evangelize other women? The Indian culture does not allow for men to evangelize women.  You must teach young Indian women a trade so they make a living and give the gospel to co-workers.
  • Do you realize that you'll have to meet the needs of orphans, too? India is loaded with them. It's a need you cannot ignore.
  • Are you prepared to evangelize Indian people through their children? Indian parents place of premium on quality education for their children. You can reach them by establishing Christian schools

Even if you want to go, you can't.

India closed its borders to foreign missionaries in 1978.  India can only be reached by natives. But…

The Lord has provided a way for you minister in India…

We’re doing what you would do if you had the chance. Help us do it in your place!
